Hi , I was reviewing your build notes for your updates and I am curious about this.
If I am going to build a Qtake system today, apple ships new systems with Snow leopard 10.6. How will this affect the systems performance ? Is there a way to reert to 10.5.8 on a new system?

NOTE:
- OS X 10.6.2 bug is causing severe performance drop. Recommended OS X version is still 10.5.8.[/b]

And what does this mean ?

/
KNOWN LIMITATIONS:
- Render works only with 100% clip speed.

Yes, you can revert to 10.5.8 by reinstalling the system. You need 10.5.8 system install disk (your Apple dealer should be able to supply) and the whole procedure takes about an hour.
I suggest you first try running QTAKE on 10.6.0 or 10.6.1, where the performance is down only by 10-15%. However if your machine ships with 10.6.2 you have to downgrade.
Hopefully this will be resolved in OS X 10.6.3.

Regarding the RENDER limitation, it means that in current version QTAKE will reset the speed of the clip to original (SPEED = 100%).
This limitation will be removed in about 2-3 weeks.

There is an update from apple today for Nehalem Mac Pros running OS 10.6.2 that reduces processor utilization during activities such as recording or playing back audio. Users experienced a drop in performance and excessive heat while recording audio or playing songs through itunes. Could this be the bug that has been effecting Qtake? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4034

No. There is an OpenGL bug in 10.6.2, but it is fixed in 10.6.3. This should be released pretty soon.
